SAN FRANCISCO, CA

A MANO

Collaboration with ROY - A Hospitality Design Studio. Situated on the ground floor of a 4-story mixed-use infill development, A Mano, literally “by hand”, features a bright and airy dining room where patrons can watch staff prepare handmade pasta in the exhibition kitchen.

The existing building’s sharp angles were a result of its placement on the site of a former freeway offramp and proved to be the biggest design challenge - balancing the necessary back of house functions with an open front of house floor plan that takes full advantage of the visibility provided by glazed façade.

A slatted wood cloud floats above the main dining area, grounding the space and shielding much of the mechanical systems.
